The Last Explorer

Len Beadall

Len Beadall (b. 21 April 1923 - d. 12 May 1995) is widely regarded as Australia's last explorer. Having spent most of his life surveying the vast inland Australian continent, he was asked firstly to survey a centreline to establish a rocket firing range, later to become the Long Range Weapons Establishment, Woomera. After that he was asked to survey an area suitable for the first Atomic bomb test conducted by the British on the Australian mainland, later known as Emu Field.
